This year for the first time in HSE history, the graduation ceremony will take place at one time for all four HSE campuses. Almost 11,000 students from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, and Perm will gather online to bid the university farewell and celebrate the next chapter in their lives.

An Endowment for the Development of the International College of Economics and Finance (ICEF) has been created within the HSE Endowment Fund to provide financial support for the ICEF’s long-term projects. Thanks to the endowment, the ICEF will also be able to direct more funds to research and expand the range of opportunities for the professional and personal growth of its students.

On November 27, the HSE University held its 18^th annual Golden HSE Award Ceremony in honour of colleagues who have demonstrated excellence in research or have contributed in a meaningful way to the HSE community. The special occasion coincided with the university’s 27^th anniversary.

The HSE Business Incubator took 1^st place in the 2019-2020 UBI Global World Ranking of University-Linked Business Accelerators. An awards ceremony for the top ranked institutions was held at the World Incubation Summit in Doha, Qatar on November 6.

Graduates of HSE University’s International College of Economics and Finance (ICEF) traditionally receive their degrees against a backdrop of grand fireplaces, an oak staircase, and a balcony overlooking the Kremlin. This is because the ICEF holds its commencement ceremony at the British ambassador’s residence on the Sofiyskaya Embankment. And this is not by accident. Graduates of the ICEF’s bachelor’s programme receive two degrees from HSE and the University of London, respectively, while graduates of the ICEF’s Master’s Programme in ‘Financial Economics’ receive a degree from HSE and the London School of Economics. This year marked the ICEF’s 19^th commencement ceremony.

Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin, who earned his Bachelor’s in economics in 2002 and his Master’s in economics in 2004 from HSE University, spoke to students of the Faculty of Economic Sciences about economic growth in Russia and what he learned at HSE University.

On July 4, HSE University graduates celebrated their graduation with Little Big, a vibrant punk rave band, - this was the University’s gift to the students. The concert drew students, graduates from previous years, and HSE University staff: over 5,000 people attended the event.

How HSE Graduation Has Changed over the Years

HSE graduates have launched a programme that will annually award winners of the Student Research Paper Competition in those subject areas in which the university is an international leader.

The annual reception for outstanding HSE alumni took place on December 7 at Saltykovy-Chertkovy House. The jury awarded alumni in six nominations.
